ORLANDO, Fla. (August 2019): Alyssa Wolfe loves everything Florida, from the theme parks to the warm weather, she adores the Sunshine State. Her wish was to visit Orlando for a theme park extravaganza! Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made her dream come true, sending Alyssa and her family to Disney World and LEGOLAND-Florida.
Alyssa suffers from cerebral palsy, and initial MRI reports showed two hemorrhages in her brain. She relies on a feeding tube for her nutritional needs and a wheelchair. Along with a host of other complications, Alyssa also experiences seizures.
Kids Wish Network flew her family to Orlando for her amazing wish trip. They stayed at the Melia Orlando Suite Hotel, whose staff went above and beyond, decorating Alyssa’s room with balloons, LEGOs, and Minnie Mouse themed toys. She spent her first day at the parks in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Her favorite part was the Lion King show, where she got to take part in the shows parade and interact with some of her favorite characters. After an amazing safari filled day, the family dined at Marlow’s Tavern. “When we walked in, people knew exactly who Alyssa was!” said Alyssa’s mom Sarah.
The next day, the family ventured to EPCOT, which ended up being Alyssa’s favorite park. She loved touring the different countries and sampling some of the delicious food. After a culturally rich day the family enjoyed a memorable dinner at Terralina Crafted Italian in Disney Springs. The next day was a colorful adventure at LEGOLAND. Alyssa and her brother loved meeting the characters and going on the LEGO themed rides. Afterwards, family had dinner at Chili’s where the staff surprised them with goodie bags. Alyssa had an amazing time during her wish. “I can’t wait to come back and go on more rides,” said Alyssa.
“We’re so happy we could give Alyssa a wish even more magical than she dream of,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
